Sun glazes roof
glances off your cheek
another day of history
we pretend nothing’s changed
between marigolds and frangipani
beyond night sky floats
phosphorescent morning,
I reach for you.
Light heightens dust
turns tears to rainbow,
we pretend on street corners
you catch my eye in coat pocket
between beer cans and vagrants
beyond omnipresent darkness
we can pretend
you were an angel for me.
Your cheeks are angular
hold hollow misspent nights,
our spirits are gleaming
you catch my eyes and keep them
we’re entwined in our own myth
marigolds and frangipani, side kicks and crack pipes
were we ever meant for this?
Hand glazes cheek
eyes twist to corrosive anger
we pretend we remember nothing
beyond your night sky
I am some kind of angel
hummingbird and orchid drenched in jungle fever
I feel terror from this.
Sun glazes cheek
glances through another morning
another day of history,
we can’t pretend nothing’s changed
between marigolds and frangipani
beyond night sky floats phosphorescent morning
I reach for you.
Seems to be a really tight bit of writing and quite sad.

Thanks John ………..every poem tells a story and this one is sad 🙂
