Love leads nowhere

Love leads nowhere,
but back to itself.

We hold each other
eternity passes;
your eyes, my eyes
struggle to comprehend.

I offer a deep blue sea
you’re just a wild child.

I want you:
like chocolate
like cocaine,
like sweet desert wine
like life, reflected back to me
in your envelope.

I wait for a diagnosis,
a prescription to follow

thinking,

love leads nowhere
but back to itself
solely, inherently, only itself
each and every time.
