Sleeping deities

We are sleeping deities

on a flickering carpet

of night stars;

the wind screams its similes

as we murmur love songs

into each others hair.

‘’I love you…’’……..sounds banal

and how many times have we

let the words roam around our tongues?

Watched them glisten honey on kiss

chapped lips.

We are sleeping deities

on a flickering carpet

of night stars;

you impale me, you move so far

inside me light darkens into red

retina flashes

the wind screams its similes

as we murmur love songs

into each others hair

seascape spreads beyond us

into convoluted nothing.

Nothing in your eyes, always only

asking why?

Checking for no entry signs,

for entrances barred, but this

time finding only truth

where the wind and the sea

meet us.
