Winter sunrise

Sunrise climbs

chimney: blood red

clots to umber

cotton streaks

jet trail arrows

foreign clime;

my lemon tree

hogs the light

hides inside

this northern winter.

A belonging

hard won,

clock breathes

death chime

‘Never look back.’

White rabbit

runs

for freedom.
