Dissolve

Sun glazes trees

golden, another day

in paradise.

You rise from dream

were we ever that young?

That shining?

You & I

misunderstood

we slip beneath

the sheets of sleep

a lifetime of knowing

a fleeting love.

Your blonde symmetry

saved my life once

or twice:

a country kitchen

the courage to leave.

Your photos splice

the darkness

light up a world

less travelled

I started in your lens

subtle, seductive

twined in yellow.

Now this autumn

pulses its gold

the gold of your hair;

texture between

my fingers ,

dream dissolving.

Unknown

What lies

between us

dormant in

the ether.

What is

between us

uncharted?

This autumn’s

mist

curves a gentle

hand around

the lives we’ve

lived

tears are never

enough

to cleanse us.

You cut through

to nerve

draw no blood:

I leave the room

empty.

The days

recur & recur

safety in silence

yet what lies

between us

will not be

refused.

Autumn song

I was caught up

by the wind

an autumn leaf

crisp, golden.

I was hijacked

by your tears

my heart held

to ransom;

for a moment

we danced a song

the melody unclear

the phrasing

dissonant.

I’m counting back

the years

vignette cinema clear

wide pan, exotic.

I’m flying through

this storm

buffeted by

creation

love an unknown game

that other’s play.

The zeitgeist

calls my name

the trees answer.

Rope Walk

Green is not word

enough to satisfy

the tongue;

sward, river, fleuve,

willow: seismic

tones splashed

like

the beginning

of time.

Time

rustles by

you & I

battling

to exist

in this.

Ducks take

flight

& the dog

plunges in

forgetting:

I’m forgetting

moving through

quixotic entity.

Fluorescent scum

scours water tension

tourists trudge

& the willow’s

sing of ancient

kings

troubadours

& lady’s  sleeves

that moment when

all of this

beckoned.

You over there

in broken niche,

you climbed into

my heart

planted a seed

multi-faceted

ringed with gold.

You talked to me

of angel’s wings

we cross examined

the data

found it prurient.

We walk into

the dark

I have a candle

you light a match

heart beat glow.

You tremble

in my hand

fragile like

a swallow’s breath

we cross continents

searching heat

a scorching sun

where cricket’s sing:

mouth to mouth

resuscitation

happens slowly.

I hold your life

in my palm

A pulsing

revolution.
