Deja vu

Here we are again
back on the road to hell

& everything I thought
I knew, has vanished
in the morning mist.

I’m lost from you.

If I could take back
time, dust it off from
sharpened youth

if I could take back
time, I’d live a different
tune.

We’re travellers for
a moment, crossing rivers
long run dry

seeing lands we’ve
always wished for
rainbows washed

from drifting lives,

if I could take back time
meet you at the corner
of my dreams

if I could take back time
walk the path we never trod

if I could take back
time, I’d live a different
truth.

You found me dressed
in sparkles, you sprinkled
me with tears

if I could touch you
for a moment
whisper words

we both believed

if I could take back
time, hold your hand
& kiss your brow

if I could wrap us up
in yesterday capture
love we’ve never known

if I could wish
for just one moment
erase all that I’ve become

if I could take back
time, I’d live a different
truth.

Here we are again
back on the road to
hell

my demons mutter
nightly & the angels
have all left

if I could take back
time dust it off
from sharpened youth

if I could take back time
I’d chose another truth
if I could take back time

I’d stay with you.

The language of wildflowers

Iris raises royal head
speaks her truth
in wedding vows

while Lavender scents
the room with
pure intent

& Rosemary will
always remember

our laughter &
our tears
how we fought

to be here.

Clematis summons
Angels from their
beds, Anemone

sprang from Aphrodite’s
grief for Adonis’s death,
to bring us luck.

Forget me Not,
how could you
ever?

Lavender is for
the Bees, brings
purity, my silence,

your devotion.

Through & through
the Scottish Thistle
bears my name

full of courage
& by God
endurance.

I’m bringing out
the Bluebells
humility, constancy

& everlasting love
that alters not
from the moment

of creation:
to when I close
my eyes to sleep

forever’ neath
scent of purple
heather.

I gift to you
a buttonhole
of Sea Holly,

an aphrodisiac
full of lust
Viagra for

the horses.

Vervain for its
supernatural powers
catnip loved by

Druids

Sunshine Daisies
erase the gloom
bring joy to brighten

days of peace
as we sign
the ‘deal’

here & now
between us.
.

The ride

Domed blue sky
fields falling, falling
to the sea

horse beneath
my being, being
ride the horizon.

Stone, earth
ancient bones
cry of, cry, magpie

four for a boy
flight:

Smoke billows, billows
from cottage garden
framed with snowdrops

bluebells, sunshine
now is forever
listen closely

heartbeat,
heartbeat.

Spring song

You’re buzzing
like a bee

back ‘n forth
up ‘n down

sipping nectar
from the breeze

cherry blossom
hawthorn crown.

You want me
as your Queen

fat ‘n sleek
lost ‘n found

sipping nectar
from the breeze

to feed to me

honeysuckle
iris blue.

You’re buzzing
like a bee

back ‘n forth
up ‘n down

sipping nectar
from the breeze

willow water
spring sounds.

You don’t know
how to be

days disappear
‘n round ‘n round

‘n round we go
we’re dizzy.

You’re buzzing
like a bee

back ‘n forth
up ‘n down

sipping nectar
from the breeze

jasmine scented
yellow gorse.

I’ve been crying
in my sleep

nights a burden
pillow laden

you’re buzzing
like a bee

so fly for me
fly for me.

The beast

I’m on the road I never took

passing the rose garden:

the twilight over river

lights my way.

You’re standing at the corner

of dream, sombre, pensive

your face unknown,: we have

new words for beasts like you

glib speak rolls off tongue

teardrop water.

Glimpses of darkness dazzle

I walk into the void, planets spin

& galaxies that don’t exist

spark the illusion

I wake to heartbeat, breath,

spring chorus. you’re hovering

in the core of me, I bleed

across the chasm.
