Nostalgia

[song]

This summer hides
the footprints of
the past

an open door
a vanished look
a house

I’d long forgotten.

You’re standing
here again
the same:

but not.

There’s grey
upon your brow

there’s sadness
in your smile

but the music
still survives

it pulses
in our veins

I wonder do you
feel the same
I wonder at life’s
losing game
I wonder if we’d
ever.

Our path’s have
always twined
these twenty years;

a sister not
a bride
although you
thought you

wanted more,
….sometimes.

We sit around
this table top
& time reverbs:

nostalgia is a
word I never use
but bitter sweet

these threads
that tie & bind
you to me

& us to life

I wonder do you
feel the same
I wonder at life’s
losing game
I wonder if we’d
ever.
